There are two options I recommend for hanging vintage posters
Posterhangers
“Posterhangers” by designer Jorgen Moller offer an inexpensive and elegant solution but require a certain amount of care. These are two brushed aluminum tubes that mount to the linenbacking material at the top and bottom of the piece.
Two words of warning about this method. When hanging a vintage poster, attach the tubes only to the linenbacking material, not to the poster itself, as the clips may scuff or mark the surface of the poster.
Secondly, don’t hang the poster in direct sunlight, as this will cause the colors to fade.
Posterhangers are available here.
Framing
Traditional matting and framing is more expensive but will protect your poster from dust and, if special glass or plexiglass is used, from sunlight as well.
Make sure the framer allows the poster to “float” between an acid-free matte and an acid-free backing such as foam core. DO NOT TRIM THE LINENBACKING. The linenbacking is intentionally cut larger than the poster to protect the edges of the piece.
